My favorite app has to be Instagram. I love taking pictures, scrolling through my feed, looking at other people’s pages, and, most of all, planning my own page. The elements that I focus on the most when planning out my page are color, layout, and editing. And through the years, I found apps for Instagram that work great for me and are pretty easy to use once you get the hang of them.
While I love Instagram, I do not always have hours to spend editing photos on Photoshop, and I sure many people can relate to this. I need something quick, easy, and fun!
So, if your goal is to create a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing Instagram page, here are five apps for Instagram that can elevate your page in terms of aesthetics. They will help you easily create and plan your own unique vibe on your page while providing you with all of your Instagram needs without you having to go full influencer!
1. UNUM
[Image Description: A screenshot of an app for Instagram called UNUM. It displays two photos of the app’s layout. The picture to the right is a picture of a grid and the picture to the left is of a single photo of a girl being edited.] Via @unumdesign on InstagramHave you been wondering how people plan and organize such a perfect page that has a great aesthetic? Well, this is how! UNUM is a great app because it helps you organize and design your Instagram page! My friend showed me the app a few years ago, and I have been using it ever since. Out of all the apps for Instagram that I use, this the one I cannot live without! The app connects to your Instagram page and gives you a grid to add new pictures. When I take pictures that I want to post, I load the picture that I like onto the app and see what would look best on my page before I post it. You can also edit your photos on the app. Although I typically only use this app to organize and edit photos, you can even edit and organize videos and Instagram stories with the tools that UNUM provides. This app is definitely a 10 out of 10 for me!
2. TouchRetouch
[Image Description: A woman using Instagram to take a photo of a colorfully designed wall that is different shades of purple, orange, and red.] Via PexelsTouchRetouch is the newest app that I have been using and it is great! It is super quick and easy! Say you took a photo at the beach, but there are people in the water behind you that you do not want in your photo. TouchRetouch can take care of that for you! There are four featured editing tools offered: object removal, a quick repair, line removal, and clone stamp. Quick repair is super simple to use. All you have to do is brush over the object that you want to remove, and then it is gone like magic!
3. Facetune 2
[Image Description: A screenshot of the app for Instagram called Facetune 2. The post is a Black woman with blonde braids. She is wearing a red turtleneck and a silver metallic jacket.] Via @facetune on InstagramFacetune 2 is an app that makes editing pretty easy. I first learned about Facetune while watching a YouTube video by James Charles and was very impressed with all the tools it has to offer! The app has all your basic editing features like brightness, sharpen, and contrast plus a little extra. You can whiten your teeth, fix tones, smooth your skin, add colors, and reshape things! However, I should warn you that it is easy to go overboard with all the features, so just make sure that you are careful! I typically only use the app to erase a blemish or two, have my makeup stand out a little bit more, and other small edits to enhance my photos. I do not trust myself with larger edits like reshaping. You should just do what is best for you and what you are comfortable with!
4. CutStory
[Image description: A concert at night using Instagram Live to stream.] Via Pexels.CutStory is great for slicing your longer videos into chunks so you can post them on your Instagram story. I used this when I was doing an Instagram takeover and answering questions. All you have to do is upload your video to the app. Next, you export it and press the Instagram button. Then your video will be in perfect 15-second intervals for you to post! You can import videos for IG TV, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, and WhatsApp. You can even edit your video by adding text or stickers, changing the layout, and adding backgrounds within the app.
5. VSCO
[Image description: A screenshot of an Instagram post by VSCO. The post is of three separate photos of a tall tan building in a montage. The background colors in the pictures are a combination of blues and purples.] Via @vsco on Instagram.I know that many of you may have heard of the term “VSCO girl” used to describe an aesthetic that includes Hydro Flask water bottles, scrunchies, oversized t-shirts, and Birkenstocks. The name for this aesthetic and meme actually came from the VSCO app, which has photo and video editing capabilities. You can even create fun montages! Most importantly, it has filters for you to select from that aren’t too harsh if you are not feeling the filters that Instagram provides. When I use filters on VSCO, I typically choose the one I like, then I lower the opacity so it is not super harsh.
With these five apps, you can definitely get a lot done! What I like best about them is they are quick and simple to use. You will be able to stay organized, which really helps when trying to improve your page. You will also be able to edit and touch-up as many photos need. These apps for Instagram will certainly have your page looking amazing in no time!
