But the coffee you buy from Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts is rarely just coffee. In most cases, there’s loads of sugar, calorie-dense syrups, and outrageous toppings. And, as we all know, these very things can be a downfall when we’re trying to maintain our health and be our best selves.
So, why not try for something a little healthier than your average latte? Here are some healthier options for you to try the next time you go on a coffee run:
Caffe Americano (any size): This is probably the healthiest drink you can get at Starbucks. It consists solely of water and espresso. Our suggestion? Order as is, no bells and whistles!
Grande Skinny Vanilla Latte: This latte is the go-to for many health-conscious coffee drinkers who are always on the go. It’s low in calories and in sugar, so it’s a safe bet!
Shaken Iced Passion Tango Tea: If you’re looking to break your coffee habit, iced tea might just be the way to go. Starbucks’ Passion Tea is refreshing, tasty and, most importantly, healthy!

Hot or iced coffee with skim milk and sugar: At first glance, an iced coffee with milk and sugar may seem counterintuitive. But this particular beverage helps you stay away from the slew of flavored, calorie-dense drinks that Dunkin’ Donuts typically offers. We suggest asking for a small with just a little bit of milk and sugar to keep calorie and sugar content as minimal as possible.
Small skim macchiato, unflavored: Unfortunately, flavored macchiatos will cost you about 35 grams of sugar, even for a small-sized cup and that’s way too much for anyone to consume in their morning coffee. So, stick with unflavored macchiatos and maybe add a touch of sugar to taste.
Americano (any size): Like Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts offers an Americano beverage which packs a caffeine punch and has very few calories.

Skinny Caramel Latte: If vanilla doesn’t tickle your taste buds, a caramel latte just might! Similar to the skinny vanilla latte listed above, Krispy Kreme’s caramel latte boasts a low sugar content and just about 100 calories. Again, be careful about adding anything extra.
