9 heavenly pumpkin desserts that are perfect for fall

Pumpkin spice lovers, rejoice!

Reading Time: 4 minutes

As we head into the fall and winter seasons, we are about to see a whole lot of pumpkin everything. Yes, we have the abundance of pumpkin spice lattes and the hype around them that causes hour-long wait lines at Starbucks shops, but I’m not talking about that. In fact, I can’t stand pumpkin spice lattes. Or any pumpkin spice coffee beverages, for that matter. I’m talking about the sweet, savory, mouthwatering, calorie-loaded pumpkin treats that are the staples of every Thanksgiving dinner. Not that weak shit.

No offense.

Thanksgiving seems to be the major holiday that embraces pumpkin-related desserts, but pumpkin pies, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin logs can still be found throughout the cold months and around Christmas. I love anything pumpkin flavored, so I intend on gorging myself on pumpkin sweets for the next couple of months until I explode.

Here’s a rundown of the best pumpkin desserts you need to experience if you’re a pumpkin fanatic, too.

1. Pumpkin pie

Pumpkin pie is the OG when it comes to tasty pumpkin desserts. It’s a classic staple at Thanksgiving and it’s fairly easy to make. Was it really Thanksgiving with the family if you didn’t get a slice of pumpkin pie?

2. Pumpkin cheesecake

If you really want to indulge yourself, go for a slice of pumpkin cheesecake. Rich cheesecake mixed with pumpkin?! It’s the best of both worlds, really.

3. The pumpkin log

Also known as a pumpkin cake roll or Yule log, this dessert is the shit. It’s filled with cream cheese and can be adorned with walnuts. You really hit the jackpot if you get to experience this, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin cheesecake all at the same holiday celebration.

4. Pumpkin muffins

These are delicious. With pumpkin muffins, you can have your pumpkin fix on the go; no plate or fork! You can also get super creative with the recipe you choose, making them as plain or as decadent as you wish.

5. Pumpkin bread

This dessert is hearty af, and is another example of a dish that you can add walnuts, raisins, or whipped cream to in order to make it even more fabulous.

6. Pumpkin donuts

I could stuff my face with these every day of the year, but unfortunately, I have to wait for fall before these delicious beauties are available. You don’t even need a deep fryer either; you can easily bake them.

7. Pumpkin cookies

Pumpkin cookies are underrated, in my opinion. They tend to be overshadowed by the more well-known desserts, such as pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin Yule logs. They’re one of the easiest things you’ll bake and they’re great snacks for large groups of people.

8. Roasted pumpkin seeds

Ok, so they aren’t exactly a dessert, but they are amazing and probably the healthiest treat on this list, so I’m including them. You can coat them in caramel, cinnamon, and even roast them with bacon. You can customize them however you like!

9. Pumpkin parfaits

These are to die for. Pumpkin parfaits add diversity to your typical pumpkin desserts. Show up to Thanksgiving with these and I guarantee everyone will love you.

Do yourself a favor and treat yo’self to these amazing desserts this season. If you’re not a fan of pumpkin, you’re missing out. I’m terrible at baking, so I’m counting on the fact that I can pick up these treats at my local bakeries. I’m also counting on the fact that one of you, my wonderful readers, will whip up some of these desserts and either send me pictures or, even better, find a way to send me a piece through the mail.  I would be forever grateful and it would save me the trouble and stress of making a giant mess in the kitchen and ultimately failing. Happy eating!
