At his rally on Friday in North Charleston – which, ironically, rook place only 13 minutes from where Dylann Roof shot and killed black worshippers at Emanuel AME Church – the billionaire bigot once again pulled no stops on his comments about Muslims. In a probably-way-too-enthusiastic way, Trump rambled on about torturing and summarily executing the suspected enemies of America in the name of safety.
Within his tirade, Trump favorably recounted a myth about General John Pershing and his execution of 49 Muslim prisoners of war in the Philippines during a guerrilla war against the colonizing United States:
“He took fifty bullets, and he dipped them in pig’s blood,” Trump recalled. “And he had his men load his rifles and he lined up the fifty people, and they shot 49 of those people. And the fiftieth person he said ‘You go back to your people and you tell them what happened.’ And for 25 years there wasn’t a problem, okay?”
The moral of the story according to Trump? “We better start getting tough and we better start getting vigilant, and we better start using our heads or we’re not gonna have a country, folks.”
The interesting tidbit? The story has been proved as false by Snopes.
Trump, who has advocated registering every Muslim in a national database, shuttering and/or placing mosques under surveillance, and preventing Muslims from entering the U.S., has, without a doubt, outdone himself this time.

His ignorance is laughable, but there is a terrifying reality: he is recounting a murder fantasy in which an American military officer executes Muslims in a way that prevents them from living in this world – and being eternally tormented in the next (because the thinking is that using pig, which is forbidden for consumption in Islam, will ultimately keep them from entering paradise). And why is Trump recounting such a horrific story? To gain votes of Americans.
And he’s actually succeeding.
