Hey Donald Trump, here are those Muslim IDs you were asking for

Hey, Trump. That initiative you're trumpeting to have Muslims wear IDs? That sounds eerily familiar.

So I’m sure you’ve all heard about the idea the fantastic GOP candidate Donald Trump decided to posit to the world (with the urging of Yahoo News, by the way).

Earlier this week, Fox News’ Sean Hannity asked Trump about his call to shut down some mosques. In response, Trump said, “Some bad things are happening, and a lot of them are happening in the mosques and you’re going to have to do something. Nobody wants to say this and nobody wants to shut down religious institutions or anything, but you know, you understand it. A lot of people understand it. We’re going to have no choice.”

Wow, Trump. A thorough round of applause for your consideration of the rights of all. Glad that you have no choice in a country built upon freedom of religion.

Asked on Thursday night whether he would consider registering American Muslims, “There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases,” he said. “We should have a lot of systems.”

“I would certainly implement that,” he said. “Absolutely.”

If you ask me, it’s kind of similar to what another dude with bad hair did, decades ago, to another group of people.

Um. Remember this?

Muslim Americans decided to take the leap and go ahead and help the old Donald in his pursuit to identify him. Using the hashtag #MuslimID, they took to Twitter and Facebook and started sharing their IDs – and proving just how stupid this initiative was.
